My new schedule sucks

posted by Sharlyne Ang on June 16th, 2008 under Call Center Life, personal, Random Thoughts

I got my new schedule that will be effective 2nd week of July. This is probably the worst schedule that I got: 1 am – 10 am. WAhhh!!! And this will be my shift when we transfer to The Fort ( that will be August). I just don’t know if I can cope with that schedule since I am living in Sta. Mesa. It would be very expensive for me to take a cab all the way from Sta. Mesa going to Netquad at the Fort. Another factor to consider is my time with my partner. Now that I am in the morning shift we can see each other everyday and wouldn’t really mind of the time since we go out after my shift. It just saddens me because I have no choice in the shift schedules that the management gives us. The work pays a lot but I have to compromise other things in my life. It’s really hard to work in a Call Center. I wanna quit and pursue the work that I wanna do however the work I wanna do doesn’t pay that much. By the way, I am the breadwinner in this household so I can’t really make drastic decisions without considering my mom. She’s all that I got.

Happy Birthday Vien!

My officemate and friend  Vien celebrated her birthday last June 14 ( though her birthday really is June 9th) at her pad in Makati. After shift we went to her place and had some Amber’s pancit malabon, barbequeue and cakes ;) . As a surprise for her, Jomz and Precious prepared a scrapbook for her ( as what you can see that she’s reading it infront of us) and she suddenly got teary-eyed while reading it.

Again, Happy Birthday Vien and may you have more to come ( this isn’t showbiZ!) lolz.

Eheads Night in Saguijo by Revolver Productions

Raymund Marasigan ( the ex-ehead) sessioning for Chico Sci

Since I am an Eraserheads fan, it is important for me to attend this event. Being a fan eversince the 4th grade, I was able to watch the Eraserheads as a group live. Now that they’re disbanded ( huhu :( ), all I can do now is watch other bands perform Eheads songs and be nostalgic about it. It was the Eheads night gig in Saguijo. Bands who performed were: Prank Sinatra, Purpled Chickens, Ernville, The Lowtechs, Spazzkid, Bagetsafonik, Imago and Chico Sci. The gig started at 9:00 pm. Each band performed some songs of the Eraserheads. The best version would be Purpled Chickens’s version of “Hula” and “Palamig”. Spazzkid’s remixes of “Kailan”, “Alapaap” and ” Superproxy” were unique ( you can check the clip of Spazzkid’s remix of Kailan here). And of course the coolest of course was when Raymund Marasigan sessioned for Chico Sci. They performed “Kailan” and “Magasin”. Also, Raymund played drums for Chico Sci songs such as “7 Black Roses”, ” A Promise” and ” Paris”. Before performing, Chicosci was doing soundcheck while Miggy of Chicosci is singing “Breakdown” of Mariah Carrey ( lolz :p ).

How I wish the Eheads get back together. But even though they’re not together anymore, I still support their individual bands. As what we eheads-listers say, “Long live the Eraserheads”.

A Transphobic incident in a bar in Greenbelt 3

posted by Sharlyne Ang on June 12th, 2008 under anti discrimination, homophobia, lgbt

Transphobia refers to discrimination against transsexuality and transsexual or transgender people, based on the expression of their internal gender identity ( from Wikipedia.com)

Transexuals are what people call in lay person’s terms who had undergone sex change while transgenders are people who feel uncomfortable on their biological sexual make up and thus feel that they are trapped in that body and would need to perform gender roles that do not match on their biological make up.

One of our sisters/brothers in the LGBT community was discriminated by a transphobic kind of action in a bar in Greenbelt 3 Makati. This is a repost that I got through email. Pls read about it. Read the rest of this entry »

Gay and Pregnant Students Face Discrimination

I got this article from Prof. Libay Cantor of UP Diliman ( from her Multiply site) who is an advocate of LGBT issues. As for me, I will be reposting this so as to enlighten people of the reality of homophobia and sexism in the education system: the institution that “molds” young minds into what they are today. Try to analyze it and think about where you had your education when you were younger. Read the rest of this entry »

Midyear Resolutions

posted by Sharlyne Ang on June 3rd, 2008 under personal

It’s already mid year of 2008 and for a change these are the things that I need to accomplish before the year ends: ( by the way these are not in order)

  • Pay remaining credit card debt, so that at the end of the year I could buy a new PC for myself.
  • Have high ratings in my score card so that I could transfer departments or apply for a higher position at work.
  • If I’ll have the opportunity, get a job in Singapore so that I could at least pay all the debts my family have eversince not just pay the current bills.
  • If I’ll be getting a job in Singapore, hopefully my partner and I could live together there and build a future also.
  • Maintain a good relationship with my partner, and be together for a long time ( good thing we don’t fight)
  • Save money so that I could probably start building a house for mom in the province and also for myself ( but this won’t be due this year, it’s too early.. BUT, I need to start now)

But my priority really is to pay the credit card debt.. ;) hehe. Next is to have some savings. ;)

Laiya Getaway ( Take 2!)

posted by Sharlyne Ang on June 2nd, 2008 under personal, Travel

I went to Laiya in San Juan, Batangas again ( last May 31) but this time I was with Baby, Kel, John, Rona and Karla. It was my first time to go out of town with them so the experience is different compared with my officemates. We stayed in White Cove Beach Resort ( same as where my officemates and I stayed last Holy Week) but this time we stayed overnight there. It was one hell of an adventure for us because we were supposed to leave early. How unfortunate Kel was when his driver’s license was given by the guard on duty ( in Baby’s village) to another person. It was his car that will be be used to go to Batangas and he didn’t have his license. We tried to locate the other person who might have his license but really couldn’t find him. Well anyway, we proceeded to a notary public to process an affidavit of loss then headed to Batangas after lunch. We arrived in San Juan about 5:00 pm. It was their fiesta celebration, got caught up in the traffic because some barangays have their own santacruzan. Even though it was a slow traffic, we enjoyed watching the santacruzan.
