I won an Asus Laptop at SM Marikina’s Wifi Stress Event!

Last Saturday, we were invited to attend the “Wifi Stress Test” in SM Marikina. This is basically to test the strength of their wifi connection. Bloggers and even IT specialists brought their wifi enabled devices like laptops, mobile phones, etc. For me, I used my Nokia E71 because I don’t own a laptop, I only use my desktop PC at home.

The connection was ok, everywhere you go in SM Marikina, there is wifi connection so it is very convenient for example when you are buying something and would like to compare prices in other malls or stores you can easily access the internet. The connection got slower when I was already with other people using the connection. I think the wifi connection got ‘stressed’ with all of us using it simultaneously.

By the way, it was also my birthday. Luckily, I won an Asus F80L laptop. It was a surprise because I wasn’t really in my super birthday mood. But this made my day and of course I was with the people that I wanted to be with (aside from my family of course). Super thank you to SM Marikina, I am beginning to love that mall! haha. I now have a laptop. Yey!  Anyway, after the event my blogger friends and I had dinner at Krung Thai then had coffee at Biksa Coffee.

My 26th Birthday

posted by Sharlyne Ang on March 3rd, 2009 under personal, Random Thoughts

Another year has passed and suddenly I am now 26. Wow. If someone asks me how it feels being 26, I would tell that person “You will only feel the difference when you’re already 27″. True isn’t it?

I didn’t have plans on my birthday. One thing I am sure of at that day is to go to SM Marikina for the Wifi Stress Event. I thought that I’ll do the usual Saturday night thing Karla and I do: eat dinner then hang out in a coffee shop. The surprise came when I one the Asus Laptop in SM Marikina. Is it really fate? I don’t know. I think it was just a coincidence, a lucky coincidence.

If you think you’re the Eheads’ no. 1 fan then join this contest by Pulse.ph. It’s very easy, just write an essay on why you think you are the no. 1 fan of them. Raymund Marasigan will be juding if you are indeed the number 1 fan. I am still brainstorming on how I will write the essay, I hope I win :) (crossing fingers). Growing up as a young girl in our society is not that easy. Culturally, there are expected behaviors a little girl should know but sometimes (or most of the time), these expected behaviors become controlling factors in our decisions in life. As we all know, different socialization agents influence us and mold us to who we are now. Socialization agents are significant people in our lives (or most likely the first individuals who we encounter as a child) such as parents, teachers and peers. Not all the time they are saying the ‘right thing’, but because of normative conditions, sometimes adolescent girls are misinformed and would think that it is the ‘absolute truth’ with no room for change.
