SM North Edsa, the second largest mall in the whole world, has innovated itself by creating the Sky Garden which will become one of the major attractions of this mall. The SM Sky Garden is the elevated and exterior walkway that connects the 3 separate buildings of SM North Edsa namely Annex, The Block and the main mall. Strolling in the mall wouldn’t be the same because of the green surroundings in this walkway. This will also become the nature barrier between you and the busy streets of EDSA. Bloggers were able to experience walking around it last May 23rd before it will be formally opened to the public on May 29th.

giant waterfall

The Sky Garden is 400 meters long and if you will be looking from the outside, you will notice that it is shaped like a floating green ribbon. It has 55 species of plants, grass and trees which can be appreciated by mall goers as they walk by. Also, there is a giant waterfall which can be immediately noticed when you are in EDSA or at the MRT. There is a small hill where you can have a very good view of the fascade of the mall and EDSA as well.

view from the small hill

Mall goers can enjoy their stay with Sky Garden’s different attractions. There will be restaurants and coffee shops around to keep you fed and nourished while enjoying the green scenery . Some of the restaurants that will open are La Mesa Grill, Marina, Persia Grill, Padi’s Point, Ineng’s BBQ, Pixie’s Sinugba and Gerry’s Grill. Specialty dessert and coffee shops such as Starbucks, Cello’s Donuts and Dips, Kitchen of Cakes and Coffee, Coffee Experience will be opened as well to cater to the sweet tooth and caffeine cravings of mall goers. Some restaurants such as Starbucks and Persia Grill will be ‘floating’ (as seen in the photo below).

on the right side will be Starbucks and on the upper left side will be Persia Grill

Aside from nourishing the gastronomic cravings of customers, you can also enjoy watching special shows at the SM Sky Dome. It can accomodate 1000 people in the audience area and it has a movable stage that can accomodate different types of events in fact, I was able to watch the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2009 at the Sky Dome on the evening that I was there.

There are also modern sculptures displayed where people can take pictures of it. I prefer to see them in the evening because you can see the vibrant colors more than during daytime. Here’s one sculpture that I was able to take a photo of:

With regard to accessibility, the SM Sky Garden is connected with 2 bridgeways: one is in EDSA and the other is in Mindanao Avenue. In the future, the SM Sky Garden will be connected to the combined LRT 1, MRT 1 and MRT 7 Grand Terminal. SM North EDSA will have its own MRT station (probably in the SM Annex area) in the future to make it more accessible for customers.

The best of it all is that it has free Wi-Fi access everywhere. You can check your email, chat or blog while you are at the SM Sky Garden as well as when you are inside Annex, The Block and the main mall. How cool is that?

Can’t you see I’m happy? (taken by Karla Redor)

This is a post-Christmas celebration for the bloggers who are also plurkers. Last December 26, we went to Tagaytay and all we did there was to pig out, LITERALLY. We left Manila at around 9 am and arrived at Tagaytay City at around 10:30 am. It wasn’t that cold yet, it’s just the normal morning breeze. Our first stop was a Greek restaurant called Manos Greek Taverna. Since our group was really big ( imagine 25 food trippers), we have to divide ourselves into smaller groups so that billing and ordering would be much easier. I was of course part of the food bloggers group wherein each dish that comes to our table have to be photographed ( of course for our food blogs ). The food that we ordered in Manos were Moussaka, Tsatziki with pita bread and Grilled Lamb Chops. We also had yogurt shake as our beverage.

Half of the Plurk Lakbayan group at Bag of Beans taken by Arbet Bernardo

After eating lunch at Manos, we headed straight to Bag of Beans where we had our dessert and coffee there. We ordered Shepherd’s Pie and Iced Caramel Latte. I loved the ambiance of the place. It’s very cozy; I felt that I was brought to the countryside or something. I will definitely go back there.

We were still full and I thought that we’re gonna go to another binging session again. It’s good that we rested our intestines and took a look at the view of Taal Volcano. We hung out at the Taal Vista Lodge viewing area and savored the cool breeze of Tagaytay with the Taal Volcano just infront of us. Ohh, what a relief. I’ve always been fascinated of the that volcano. I always wanted to trek there and I think that that wasn’t a good time for us to go there since we are food tripping, eh? Of course, we cam whored while we were there.

The Plurk Gangsta in Taal Vista taken by Fritz Tentativa

Sun was already setting and our stomachs were again craving for food. We went to Leslie’s to eat Bulalo however we weren’t able to, apparently the waiter forgot to forward the order to the kitchen. Wow. 45 minutes has passed and no bulalo were on our tables. The bulalo was just supposed to be a pre-dinner thing. We were really supposed to have dinner at Kanin Club in Paseo de Sta. Rosa. Good thing, our busmate Fritz brought some junk food for us to feast on during the trip to Sta. Rosa .

When we arrived at Kanin Club, everybody was super hungry except for my busmates and the food blogger’s group (Melo, Marc, Gail, Nina and Shantee the dog). It was almost past 9 pm when we started to feast on the delicious dishes at Kanin Club. Mmmm.

Now this is the way to spend your post-Christmas, food trip! We all went home full of excess baggages in our stomachs and also gained new people in our lives. Can’t wait to have another Plurk Lakbayan

I used the gift certificates that was given last Shabu-Shabu 101 bloggers event held at Healthy Shabu-Shabu in Shangri la Mall. I treated my mom and my ninang ( whose birthday was just recently). We were so full. I still ordered the US Angus Beef Set since I enjoyed their Angus Beef during the event then. My mom ordered the Fat Beef and Seafood Set and as for my Ninang, she ordered Beef Tenderloin Set.

By the way, I took a picture of these lobsters. Just got interested, they’re actually upside down seem like sleeping. They need siesta too, this was taken about 3:30 pm

I am feeling krung krung period. For those who do not know what it means, it’s defined as: a state of feeling one undergoes when he/she is out of her ‘normal’ state. Well that’s how I define it, I don’t know for others. I don’t really know why I am feeling this, probably I am just PMS-ing. I don’t know. I am feeling bored. I want to do many things, so little time ( and too expensive ). This morning I woke up from a 17 hour sleep ( I didn’t go to work last night) and suddenly craved for breakfast buffet in ‘Something Fishy’. Since I couldn’t drag Karla all the way from Parañaque, I dragged my mom to come along with me. So we went to Eastwood and ate the breakfast buffet. I really got so full hehe. We arrived there about 9:40 am and they’re about to clean up since the buffet is only until 10. After being the last customers there, we walked around the quiet Eastwood then headed to Cubao. Mom was going to her Church, and as for me ( who is not really into religious things) I went to Gateway Cubao and hung out in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. This time I was alone. I remember the times when I would be feeling this and this coffee shop is always the place I seek refuge. I am usually alone whenever I go to this coffee shop.

Probably I am bored.

March 24, after Holy week, I was so excited because Krispy Kreme will be opening at the ground floor of our building ( Jaka Building). I wanna be first in line because I wanna be included in the first 300 customers to have a dozen of donuts. I wanna be the first but unfortunately, there were 4 people on the line when I went down from at about 6 am.There were 2 guys who were about 20 something, a guy about 30 something and a teenage boy ( who was riding a helmet and mountain bike). Here are the stories of the guys who were lining up there: the 2 twenty-something guys were in line about 8 pm the night before, the 30 something guy was there about 11:30 pm and the teenage boy maybe around 5 am. The teenage boy by the way biked all the way from Monumento, Caloocan to Ayala, Makati ( he’s really desperate for donuts). Who wouldn’t? The prizes for the first 300 customers are:

first customer: 1 year supply of donuts ( weekly)
2nd customer: 6 months supply of donuts ( again weekly)
3rd customer: 3 months supply of donuts ( again weekly wahh!)
4th-300th customer: 1 month supply of donuts ( still weekly)

It was 7 am, people from another call center started lining up. Then, 9 am came, the store manager arrived and announced to us: “WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT KRISPY KREME WILL NOT BE OPENING TODAY, PROBABLY THIS WEEK. WE’LL JUST GET YOUR CONTACT NUMBERS SO THAT WE CAN NOTIFY YOU OF THE EXACT OPENING OF THE STORE”

Wow, imagine that. We lined up for nothing? Well actually no. Since I left my contact number there, I am expecting a surprise from Krispy Kreme ( konsuelo de bobo hehe). Actually, someone contacted me and said that I will be getting gift certificates so I’ll just claim it on the opening day.

I’m so excited for the opening. Can’t wait. Will be there on the line early, promise.

Saturday, Feb 2, 2008. ( current physical condition: major coughing and sore throat).

We were supposed to go to a resort owned by Baby ( Karla’s best friend) in Cavite but at the last minute she had to cancel it to go to the doctor. Just for sponteneity’s sake, we still went to Cavite but instead we decided to go to Tagaytay ( it’s still in Cavite right? hehe). We hitched a ride w Thea ( my officemate/friend) who goes home to Cavite every weekend. Thea dropped us off ( by the way we’re with Vien in the car) in SM Bacoor then after that Vien went her way and karla and I waited for a bus going to Tagaytay. It was a long trip, we arrived Tagaytay about 7 pm ( we left sm bacoor at abt 4 pm). I haven’t felt the chills when we dropped off from the bus. I just realized it when were were already at Leslie’s. I didn’t even bring a jacket. Haha.

Karla haven’t experienced dining at Leslie’s so I decided to take her there for dinner. Actually, it’s my first time to be in Tagaytay with a girlfriend. I think I’ll discount the time when my ex and I had a field trip there.. It isn’t a date! It was mandatory at that time. Hehe. So we ordered the famous Bulalo. One order was for 4 people but we both feasted on it. Yeah, just the two of us. After dinner, we went to the photo op area; took some pictures of us. Too bad we weren’t able to get there during day time just to catch the view of Taal. Well that’s fine, we can always go back there . What’s important is that we’re together in Tagaytay. It was our first out of town trip. It was 9:00, we decided to go home. We don’t really plan on staying overnight, i’ll be staying at her place for the weekend. We didn’t really know how to go home. We stood on the main road outside Leslie’s and we saw a jeepney with a sign Pasay-Baclaran. Not knowing where how we’re going to get back to Manila, we rode that jeep. It was a 3 hour trip again. We changed jeeps, rode a jeep going to Alabang. It was about 11 something in the evening, we needed some caffeine inside our systems so we had our coffee in Starbucks ATC. We had some smoke then left ATC at abt 12:30. At last we arrived Karla’s house. It was a very tiring trip. Wow, sponteneity works! hehe.

Sunday, Feb 3, 2008 ( physical condition: lost my voice- imagine I sound like a frog!, less coughing, minor fever)

The next morning, we woke up abt 10 am. As you can see in the description above I got sick. Yes, I got sick. I’m lucky Karla took good care of me, made me drink my medicine and drink calamansi juice. I felt a little better, no more fever but I still don’t have my voice. I feel like I’m Ariel from the Little Mermaid, Ursula stole my beautiful singing voice. Hehe. Since it was a Sunday, it has been a routine in Karla’s family to visit their mom and have lunch with her. So, there I was trapped in a situation when I should face the music and finally meet THE MOM. Oh yes it’s like “Meet the Parents”. Well, I’ve already met her dad who caught me in my unglamorous self and interrogated my background. The meeting with her dad went well, we had some common discourses. Hehe. But this time, it’s THE MOM. I don’t know meeting the mom of my girlfriend is really something for me. I just hoped that she’s not very scary. So far I’ve only met one scary mom and that really traumatized me. The succeeding mom, hmm she’s very kind and accomodating. Karla’s mom was nice, she offered me food and I couldn’t even say no. Karla and I were opposites on the table: we were both on the far ends of the table ( imagine the table was oblong-shaped). I have a feeling that Karla was feeling stiff beside her mom hehe. She told me it was her first time to introduce ‘someone’ to her mom. It was flattering . It’s good that it went well, though I am feeling a little shy infront of her mom. After lunch, we left her mom’s house and went to the Fort.

We went to Market Market! first ate some merienda ( Henlin siomai and Pancit Malabon) then went inside the mall to roam around in the tiangge area. I was able to buy 2 books for just Php 19.00 and Php 29.00 each. I also saw a chihuahua toy so I bought it for my mom. After roaming around Market Market! we went to Bonifacio High Street to have some coffee in Seattle’s best. While we’re seated there, we watched the cute doggies passed by and had some intellectual discussions about feminism. We got hungry so we decided to eat dinner in Serendra. We really didn’t know what to eat so we decided to eat at Conti’s. Yummy. I’m feeling bad because I really can’t eat sweets since I am sick but after making lambing to Karla hehe she made me eat Mango Bravo. After dinner, we went home to Karla’s house again. What a perfect day until someone texted and asked “How are you? It’s been a while”. Ok, turn to the next page.

Monday, Feb 4 2008 (Physical condition: no more headaches, no more coughing, vocal chords still could sing duets with the frogs on the pond and also be the 4th chipmunk).

It’s a working day for Karla so we woke up early, hmm abt 7 am. We arrived at Greenbelt 1, Makati at abt 9 am. We bought some coffee to perk us up then after that we parted ways. I rode a cab going to my home in Sta. Mesa and she went straight ahead to work. I slept for a few hours and woke up at 1:30 pm to have a massage. After the massage, I went straight to Makati to have dinner with Karla.
