Mailing lists in the cyberspace have existed a long time ago and bands these days are taking advantage of the opportunity to interact with their fans both online and offline. On the other hand, the fans also take advantage of that situation because this is the exclusive time a band offers to their fans. Nowadays, clubs allow a handful of bands to perform every night which lessens that set list they’re allowed to perform (usually 3-5 songs per set).
I believe that it was in the late 90’s or early 2000 when local Filipino bands organized lister’s night parties. I remembered some bands such as the Eraserheads, The Dawn, Rivermaya organizing those parties. I was able to attend listers nights of Eraserheads years ago and then few months was The Dawn. Each and every lister’s night I’ve attended in the past and the present were fun and have realized the differences among their crowds. Read the rest of this entry »

Pupil re-launched their 2nd album Wildlife last Friday, July 10th at the SM Sky Dome. What’s special about this album is that they have remastered all the tracks (meaning, it has better quality) and in addition, they have a separate CD of the tracks they performed during the Pupil Lister’s Night held in Big Sky Mind. It also contains a DVD of Pupil’s music videos and digital wallpapers of Pupil there so that fans can place it as wallpapers on their desktop computers or laptops.

So, it was a Friday, the last day of my work week. I left work at 5:20 pm and immediately rushed to SM North just to make sure that Karla and I would avoid the Friday rush hour heavy traffic. The rain was pouring hard but that did not stop us from going to SM Sky Dome. I bought Hero hotdogs for dinner and decided to eat it while we’re inside the venue. There isn’t that much people yet at 7:00 pm. According to the announcements, the show was supposed to start at 7:00 pm but because of the rain, the band was stuck in heavy traffic in EDSA. So, we went inside the Sky Dome and sat at the middle aisle because it would be difficult to see if we’re on the side. A lot of familiar faces were there, the Pupil and Circus listers, a former colleague of mine from Eperformax and my grade school friend Chili. It was nice to see Chili again whom I have never spoke for more than 10 years and also Gerard, a fellow Circus lister I met during the Eheads Final Set (also one of the individuals who got a portion of Ely’s Levi’s jacket). Remember that I was one of the people who got Ely Buendia’s jacket during the Eraserheads Final Set last March 7? Well, I already asked him to sign my part of it last time during the One for the Roadie event at Mag:Net High Street. I approached him during Peryodiko’s set while he was holding his glass of red wine near the entrance of the bar. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh yes, Ely Buendia will be in the Maxim Philippines May 2009 issue. Will he be on the cover? Nah? It’s a men’s magazine, duhh. Geneva Cruz is on the cover of the magazine.
Ely has a fashion pictorial feature, together with the rest of the Pupil boys as well. Oohh, can’t wait to see this. Also, Diane Ventura had a sit down interview, narrating her side of being allegedly tagged as “Yoko Ono” of the Philippines. There shouldn’t be any fuzz about this anymore, oh well.
They also featured Chico Sci, Hilera, Ryan Cayabyab and many more. You can view the cover here.

After 7 months of waiting, the Eraserheads reunited once more. We don’t know the reasons of this re-reunion but being an Eraserheads hardcore fan, it is good news for me. For the people who ask why they are doing this, it’s not really our bloody right to know.
The night before the concert, I was up until 5 am. Supposedly, I was going to sleep early to prep up for this event but something came up. Anyway, I woke up at 11 am and headed to SM Mall of Asia with Karla. We first hung out at Bona Coffee opposite the concert grounds. Karla was wearing her Noytee shirt, the shirt I got didn’t fit me so I requested to meet up with someone from Noytee to get a larger size at 3:30 pm.

Around 4:00 pm, we headed to the VIP entrance as we are expecting that the gates would open at 3:00 pm. Apparently, they’re not letting anyone in yet. Karla and I were the 3rd and 4th person on the right side entrance (near the bay). Patricia and Gerard (newly found friends from Circus) were the 1st and 2nd on the line. We’re complete strangers but the Eraserheads binded us as if we’re already familiar with each other. The guards then were instructed to let the audience in around 4:30 pm. I was really surprised to see how near I am from the stage. Read the rest of this entry »

This photo was just uploaded hours ago by Marcus Adoro (through his multiply site, photo taken by Mohawkmom). Just like good old days but this time with a higher rockstar status
. Woot! Rock on!
Let me just give you some Eheads final set preparations that you can do:
- Starting now, try to recall the lyrics of their songs so that you can be part of the grand videoke party on the gig itself. You can probably do 1 album at a time, be creative. Don’t forget their rare songs, you might be surprised that they might perform it. It’s pathetic that you only know the common ones like Alapaap, Huling El Bimbo, Magasin and many more.
- Try to go to the gigs of their respective bands. They perform in small clubs like Saguijo, 70′s Bistro, Route 196. It’s also one way of moving on from the Eheads Era. Read the rest of this entry »

The second leg of the series of benefit gigs for Anabel Bosch happened last January 9 at Saguijo Cafe in Makati. The band line up was really good and because of that Saguijo was filled with people as early as 8 pm. Usually the place gets filled up around 11pm -12 midnight. And the funny thing was, the Eraserheads Mailing Listers (a.k.a Circus Mailing Listers) actually filled half of the place. Of course even though the band had already disbanded we would still support the individual member’s respective bands and at that night Sandwich (Raymund’s band) and Pupil ( Ely’s band) was there to perform. There aren’t any chairs left to sit so Karla and I decided to stand infront of the mic. (If you have been in Saguijo, you know what I’m talking about) Well, Saguijo is just a small place and there’s no stage so from where I am standing at that time, I was literally infront of the vocalist ( So for more picture opportunity for me!
)
This was a Rock Ed gig but Gang Badoy wasn’t there yet so there were proxy hosts for her. They already have sponsors that night such as Slenda and Enduranz, so the hosts had some games and gift packs to give away. I actually won a Slenda DVD (it’s an advantage being right infront of the host haha). Well anyway, here is the order of the bands: South Superhighway, Sugarfree, Top Junk, Chillitees, Itchyworms, Pupil, Sandwich and Join the Club.

Elmer Ona of South Superhighway or SLEX

Sugarfree – Ebe Dancel (vocals), Jal Taguibao (guitars) and Kaka Quisumbing (drums)
South Superhighway is a band composed of members namely Elmer Ona on vocals/guitars, Ben Riego on guitars, Vhall Riddle on bass and Shinji Tanaka on drums. It’s my first time to see them perform. Their songs are feel good, not so heavy. After SLEX, Sugarfree performed their old songs like Burnout, Kwarto, Prom etc. They also performed a new song entitled “Hay Buhay” from their newest album which will be released this year. It’s a positive song about life. Ebe even forgot the title when I asked him about it. hehe. Have a sneak peek of it below

A news article just came out last January 10 regarding the Eraserheads Reunion Concert Final Set that is set to happen on March 7, 2009. I for one got excited and saddened at the same time because I will be at Cagayan de Oro on that date. Hopefully I can fix arrangement with the airline. Well, moving on, everybody was thrilled to know about that. The Eraserheads Mailing List or popularly known as “Circus” is being flooded by messages of excitement about it and I also believe that the Eheads members themselves are also being bombarded with questions. Raymund Marasigan posted an email to the Cambio Mailing List about his sentiments:
Subject: Eheads 09
Date: January 11, 2009 Sunday
dear kids
i got a lot of messages yesterday asking about the eraserheads
concert. apparently there was a press release already in the papers.
anyhoo, here’s what i got so far.
yes its true. that much i know. but after the first one i got darwin
(soupstar, sandwich) to iron out my concerns before anything.i want
this one to be smoother. in other words i just want to rock.
the band has not me yet officially but i know the promoters have been
talking with our respective representatives since december.
we have a dysfunctional relationship haha. we play well together but i
think we can only stand each other for short periods of time.
i see buddy a lot cos were band mates in cambio. i bumped into marcus
at mogwai last week. he just got back from the beach. im glad ely’s
getting his groove back. sandwich played with pupil at guijo last friday.
we dont talk about the show. i know everyone agreed to do it so ill
guess well see each other at the presscon or rehearsals , whichever
comes first.
this wont be as top secret as the marlboro gig. there will be tickets,
sponsors and details in the papers. and well be allowed to talk about
it. haha.
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL OR TEXT ME about it. its just a rock show. i just
want to rock.
see you all there
raim<s>
So there, it’s not actually confirmed yet that it will happen on the date mentioned on the article (with my fingers crossed…) but there are already talks that it will happen this year. All we have to do is just wait and see what will happen so as of this moment, I will still have to make arrangements with the airline to move the flight for the next day, in case it really will happen on March 7th
.
