Opening of Adidas Store in Rockwell and the Stella McCartney Spring/Summer Collection 2009

Adidas, one of the leading brands of sports apparels, has just opened another branch at the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell. We were invited to grace the event to also unveil their newest endorser here in the Philippines.

Adidas Stella McCartney Collection - 5

Not only Adidas is opening its newest branch and endorser, they are also launching the Stella McCartney Spring/Summer Collection 2009. You may be wondering who is Stella McCartney. Well actually, she is the daughter of THE Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Stella opted to be a fashion designer and environmentalist rather than being a musician like his dad. Well, they both share some advocacies but for her case, she chose to be an advocate for a greener environment. Stella collaborated with Adidas in 2005 and made apparel (shoes, clothes and accessories)  that would cater for women who are engaged in golf, running, gym dance, yoga, tennis, winter sports and swimming. With Stella’s designs combined with Adidas technology, they came up with the collection targeted for a specific market. Well, the price tags of Stella McCartney’s collection isn’t really for the masses therefore this is really targeted for the upper middle to upper class of society. By the way, Adidas made sure to respect Stella’s belief of not using animal by products and leather alternatives. Ipanema “Walk the Green Mile” Event

Me and the other bloggers already at the finish line (Aileen, Jaydj, Karla and Miguel; photo taken by Azrael)

Ipanema “Walk That Green Mile” Event last March 21 at the parking lot near Le Souffle The Fort, Taguig. The walkathon (1 mile walk) were attended by people who want to join the cause of saving our forests. In line with this, Ipanema launched their Gisele Bundchen seeds collection wherein portion of the proceeds will be given to Haribon Foundation’s Rainforestation Organizations and Advocates.

We were at the end of the line but that’s fine as we are enjoying the scenery as the sun was already setting. There was one winner of a limited edition slippers signed by Gisele Bundchen herself. Only 10 people own this slipper and she’s one of those! By the way, I also learned that the correct pronounciation of the brand is EE-PA-NE-MAH not EE-PA-NEE-MAH. After the walkathon, we were asked to proceed to Le Souffle for a little get together but the venue was full of people we decided to have dinner at a nearby restaurant called Cafe Teria.

Thanks to Ipanema, we all got a free pair of slippers (our choice!). Here’s the slipper I chose. It’s also part of the Gisele Bundchen collection.

Peryodiko’s Self-Titled Album Out Now

pery´odiko (pangngalan or noun) – A Filipino term for newspaper, journal or periodical.

But for this article, I will be talking about a new Pinoy band called Peryodiko. The band is composed of Vin Dancel (lead vocals, guitars), Simon Tan  (bass, vocals), Kakoy Legaspi (lead guitar, vocals) and Abe Billano (drums, vocals). These guys are already superstars in their own way. Just to give you a background on each member: Vin Dancel was the lead vocalist of the now defunct Twisted Halo, brother of Ebe Dancel (of Sugarfree) and husband of Kris Gorra-Dancel (of Cambio, Fatal Posporos and Duster); Kakoy Legaspi used to play the lead guitars for Barbie’s Cradle and Rivermaya and I believe currently plays for a band called Salindiwa; Simon Tan is a great bass player associated with bands such as Lampano Alley, Johnny Allegre, Wdouji, UP Jazz Ensemble and many others; lastly, Abe Billano used to play drums for Dong Abay and Twisted Halo. Wow, that’s what I call a superstar line up.

Witnessing Wolfgang and Razorback Two Sides Live!

Basti Artadi of Wolfgang - 1

Basti Artadi, one of the Pinoy rock gods

Last March 19th Wolfgang performed for their fans at the Music Museum once more. I’m so excited for this gig because I have never seen them perform live before. Thanks to Benj (Wolfgang’s number 1 fan boy 😉 )  for scoring us front row seats!

The gig started at exactly 9 pm, we’re already inside the Music Museum at around 8 pm. The stage was very simple, no flashy backdrops or video walls. It’s just like a simple bar gig. Razorback, Wolfgang’s co-repertoire in the music scene, performed first. I haven’t seen Kevin Roy for a long, long time. It just sucked when Kevin’s microphone (s) weren’t working and thus distracting the audience. Anyway, after 2 or 3 songs, the mics were ok so they still continued to rock. After a few songs (I think around 5 or more), there was a 2 minute intermission then Wolfgang entered the stage. Continue reading “Witnessing Wolfgang and Razorback Two Sides Live!”

Launch of Havainas’ Original Campaign and The Rock Ed Original Grant

Last week, we were invited to attend the Havaianas event held at Rockwell. Summer is here and so flip flops are now very much in demand. And so this is the right time to promote originality, not only in buying original Havaianas slippers but to also be original in the things that we do.

The event was hosted by Iya Villania and Mo Twister (by the way, they’re wearing their Havaianas flip flops then 🙂 ). Noel Cabangon set the mood before the start of the show by playing beach jams ;). Bloggers, mainstream media and other guests flocked the event. After the registration, we were asked to pose at the Havaianas wall. At the middle of the event, printed photos of the guests were distributed. We were asked to write on the photo provided to answer “What makes you orgininal?”. Our photos were posted on the wall for everyone to see. Continue reading “Launch of Havainas’ Original Campaign and The Rock Ed Original Grant”

This is the Last El Bimbo – My Eraserheads Final Set Experience

After 7 months of waiting, the Eraserheads reunited once more. We don’t know the reasons of this re-reunion but being an Eraserheads hardcore fan, it is good news for me. For the people who ask why they are doing this, it’s not really our bloody right to know.

The night before the concert, I was up until 5 am. Supposedly, I was going to sleep early to prep up for this event but something came up. Anyway, I woke up at 11 am and headed to SM Mall of Asia with Karla. We first hung out at Bona Coffee opposite the concert grounds. Karla was wearing her Noytee shirt, the shirt I got didn’t fit me so I requested to meet up with someone from Noytee to get a larger size at 3:30 pm.

The stage (view from VIP section)

Around 4:00 pm, we headed to the VIP entrance as we are expecting that the gates would open at 3:00 pm. Apparently, they’re not letting anyone in yet. Karla and I were the 3rd and 4th person on the right side entrance (near the bay). Patricia and Gerard (newly found friends from Circus) were the 1st and 2nd on the line. We’re complete strangers but the Eraserheads binded us as if we’re already familiar with each other. The guards then were instructed to let the audience in around 4:30 pm. I was really surprised to see how near I am from the stage. Continue reading “This is the Last El Bimbo – My Eraserheads Final Set Experience”

Rest in Peace FRANCIS M.

It’s really a sad, sad day today for the Philippine music industry as the Master Rapper, Francis Magalona passed away today at 12 noon. He was 44. He was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and has been battling this deadly disease. As we remember him through his TV interviews, he has always been positive even though he knew that anytime his life can be taken away. He was doing a collaboration album with Ely Buendia entitled “Sickos” and I am not sure if it is already done because they are still in the process of compiling the materials for it. They are both undergoing some battles in their health and they want this album to spread the message that having a disease (especially an incurable one) shouldn’t let anyone stop being ‘alive’.

Rest in Peace FrancisM. You are really the MAN.
