Eraserheads in Singapore – Lah!

Eraserheads in SG 2013

August 9th, our flight to Singapore via 2P800 – we arrived Singapore at about 1:10 am (it’s already Aug 10th) and only have a few hours to rest. We anticipated to go to the concert venue at 3 pm as we know how these kinds of concerts work especially if you’re in the standing area. Our friend Aileen and husband Jay got a tip that there will only be one entrance for all kinds of tickets. We had a quick roam (and shopping) around Changi City Point at noon and returned to our hotel at Joo Chiat around 2 pm. Had a quick rest, changed to my Team Manila Eraserheads shirt then we headed to the Max Pavillion at Singapore Expo. The venue is just a few minutes away from our hotel. Ely Buendia Sings His Greatest Hits at the Music Museum Concert Review

Ely Buendia - Music Museum 3

This is the second time that I watched Ely Buendia perform his greatest hits concert. First one was at the Hard Rock Cafe last Aug. 3rd. I didn’t blog about it but photos were uploaded in Flickr. Anyway, We decided to watch this again, expecting to see something new compared to other one.

I’m an Ely Buendia fan, isn’t it obvious? But I believe that the Music Museum gig didn’t turn out what I expected. I personally preferred the Hard Rock gig, I guess because it was the first and the crowd was really game. The intensity was higher in Hard Rock. For first timers who haven’t seen any Ely’s greatest hits concert, would really like the Music Museum gig. Continue reading “Ely Buendia Sings His Greatest Hits at the Music Museum Concert Review”

Paskuhang Pupil 2009

Mailing lists in the cyberspace have existed a long time ago and bands these days are taking advantage of the opportunity to interact with their fans both online and offline. On the other hand, the fans also take advantage of that situation because this is the exclusive time a band offers to their fans. Nowadays, clubs allow a handful of bands to perform every night which lessens that set list they’re allowed to perform (usually 3-5 songs per set).

I believe that it was in the late 90’s or early 2000 when local Filipino bands organized lister’s night parties. I remembered some bands such as the Eraserheads, The Dawn, Rivermaya organizing those parties. I was able to attend listers nights of Eraserheads years ago and then few months was The Dawn. Each and every lister’s night I’ve attended in the past and the present were fun and have realized the differences among their crowds. Continue reading “Paskuhang Pupil 2009”

Pupil Launches Special Wildlife Album at SM Sky Dome

Pupil re-launched their 2nd album Wildlife last Friday, July 10th at the SM Sky Dome. What’s special about this album is that they have remastered all the tracks (meaning, it has better quality) and in addition, they have a separate CD of the tracks they performed during the Pupil Lister’s Night held in Big Sky Mind. It also contains a DVD of Pupil’s music videos and digital wallpapers of Pupil there so that fans can place it as wallpapers on their desktop computers or laptops.

Ely Buendia

So, it was a Friday, the last day of my work week. I left work at 5:20 pm and immediately rushed to SM North just to make sure that Karla and I would avoid the Friday rush hour heavy traffic. The rain was pouring hard but that did not stop us from going to SM Sky Dome. I bought Hero hotdogs for dinner and decided to eat it while we’re inside the venue. There isn’t that much people yet at 7:00 pm. According to the announcements, the show was supposed to start at 7:00 pm but because of the rain, the band was stuck in heavy traffic in EDSA. So, we went inside the Sky Dome and sat at the middle aisle because it would be difficult to see if we’re on the side. A lot of familiar faces were there, the Pupil and Circus listers, a former colleague of mine from Eperformax and my grade school friend Chili. It was nice to see Chili again whom I have never spoke for more than 10 years and also Gerard, a fellow Circus lister I met during the Eheads Final Set (also one of the individuals who got a portion of Ely’s Levi’s jacket). Ely Buendia’s Levi’s Jacket Finally Signed

Signed Jacket - 2

Remember that I was one of the people who got Ely Buendia’s jacket during the Eraserheads Final Set last March 7? Well, I already asked him to sign my part of it last time during the One for the Roadie event at Mag:Net High Street. I approached him during Peryodiko’s set while he was holding his glass of red wine near the entrance of the bar. Continue reading “Ely Buendia’s Levi’s Jacket Finally Signed”

“Nakita Kita Sa Isang Magasin”: Ely Buendia on Maxim May 2009 Issue

Oh yes, Ely Buendia will be in the Maxim Philippines May 2009 issue. Will he be on the cover?  Nah? It’s a men’s magazine, duhh. Geneva Cruz is on the cover of the magazine.

Ely has a fashion pictorial feature, together with the rest of the Pupil boys as well. Oohh, can’t wait to see this. Also, Diane Ventura had a sit down interview, narrating her side of being allegedly tagged as “Yoko Ono” of the Philippines. There shouldn’t be any fuzz about this anymore, oh well.

They also featured Chico Sci, Hilera, Ryan Cayabyab and many more. You can view the cover here.

This is the Last El Bimbo – My Eraserheads Final Set Experience

After 7 months of waiting, the Eraserheads reunited once more. We don’t know the reasons of this re-reunion but being an Eraserheads hardcore fan, it is good news for me. For the people who ask why they are doing this, it’s not really our bloody right to know.

The night before the concert, I was up until 5 am. Supposedly, I was going to sleep early to prep up for this event but something came up. Anyway, I woke up at 11 am and headed to SM Mall of Asia with Karla. We first hung out at Bona Coffee opposite the concert grounds. Karla was wearing her Noytee shirt, the shirt I got didn’t fit me so I requested to meet up with someone from Noytee to get a larger size at 3:30 pm.

The stage (view from VIP section)

Around 4:00 pm, we headed to the VIP entrance as we are expecting that the gates would open at 3:00 pm. Apparently, they’re not letting anyone in yet. Karla and I were the 3rd and 4th person on the right side entrance (near the bay). Patricia and Gerard (newly found friends from Circus) were the 1st and 2nd on the line. We’re complete strangers but the Eraserheads binded us as if we’re already familiar with each other. The guards then were instructed to let the audience in around 4:30 pm. I was really surprised to see how near I am from the stage. Continue reading “This is the Last El Bimbo – My Eraserheads Final Set Experience”

Are you ready for this? Things to do before the Eraserheads Final Set Concert

This photo was just uploaded hours ago by Marcus Adoro (through his multiply site, photo taken by Mohawkmom). Just like good old days but this time with a higher rockstar status 😉 . Woot! Rock on!

Let me just give you some Eheads final set preparations that you can do:

  1. Starting now, try to recall the lyrics of their songs so that you can be part of the grand videoke party on the gig itself. You can probably do 1 album at a time, be creative. Don’t forget their rare songs, you might be surprised that they might perform it. It’s pathetic that you only know the common ones like Alapaap, Huling El Bimbo, Magasin and many more.
  2. Try to go to the gigs of their respective bands. They perform in small clubs like Saguijo, 70’s Bistro, Route 196. It’s also one way of moving on from the Eheads Era. Continue reading “Are you ready for this? Things to do before the Eraserheads Final Set Concert”
