August 9th, our flight to Singapore via 2P800 – we arrived Singapore at about 1:10 am (it’s already Aug 10th) and only have a few hours to rest. We anticipated to go to the concert venue at 3 pm as we know how these kinds of concerts work especially if you’re in the standing area. Our friend Aileen and husband Jay got a tip that there will only be one entrance for all kinds of tickets. We had a quick roam (and shopping) around Changi City Point at noon and returned to our hotel at Joo Chiat around 2 pm. Had a quick rest, changed to my Team Manila Eraserheads shirt then we headed to the Max Pavillion at Singapore Expo. The venue is just a few minutes away from our hotel. On April 5, 2009, you can relive the moment while you were at the Eraserheads Final Set or catch it if you’ve missed it. The TV Premiere will be shown on GMA 7 at 10 pm. Make sure you’re tuned in!
Also, an Eraserheads Documentary will be shown at MTV on April 4th.

After 7 months of waiting, the Eraserheads reunited once more. We don’t know the reasons of this re-reunion but being an Eraserheads hardcore fan, it is good news for me. For the people who ask why they are doing this, it’s not really our bloody right to know.
The night before the concert, I was up until 5 am. Supposedly, I was going to sleep early to prep up for this event but something came up. Anyway, I woke up at 11 am and headed to SM Mall of Asia with Karla. We first hung out at Bona Coffee opposite the concert grounds. Karla was wearing her Noytee shirt, the shirt I got didn’t fit me so I requested to meet up with someone from Noytee to get a larger size at 3:30 pm.
Around 4:00 pm, we headed to the VIP entrance as we are expecting that the gates would open at 3:00 pm. Apparently, they’re not letting anyone in yet. Karla and I were the 3rd and 4th person on the right side entrance (near the bay). Patricia and Gerard (newly found friends from Circus) were the 1st and 2nd on the line. We’re complete strangers but the Eraserheads binded us as if we’re already familiar with each other. The guards then were instructed to let the audience in around 4:30 pm. I was really surprised to see how near I am from the stage. Continue reading “This is the Last El Bimbo – My Eraserheads Final Set Experience”
It was supposed to be just another Saturday gimmick for me. Karla and I decided to watch Makoy’s Violator Copy on a Saturday because I have work during weekdays. On the web, it was supposedly scheduled at 6:00 pm but when we got there (Robinson’s Galleria) it was scheduled for 7:30 pm. I got to see the Circus Listers at the theater entrance, they were going to see the film as well.
Violator Copy is a compilation of Marcus Adoro’s video works. The latest short film that he did was “The Artist Is In” which was last year and at last I was able to see it. This isn’t your typical film with dialogues in it; I would probably say that the film talked to its audience through the sound of the surroundings and the non-existence of sound. The lead character, the artist, quietly thinks of song writing ideas inside his room while on the other hand the outside world is full of noise. This shows the difficulty of some artists in the urban setting. I also thought of the struggle of an artist to squeeze their creativity juices given a little amount of time. There are deadlines to make but sometimes creativity lags behind and couldn’t cope under time pressure. It could be hypothesized that a typical day for an everyday worker, perhaps with expected tasks, is almost the same as an artist in under time pressure. Making art would become just like a normal activity and feeling of pleasure is gone. Continue reading “Marcus Adoro’s Violator Copy, The Combi and Cubao X”
This photo was just uploaded hours ago by Marcus Adoro (through his multiply site, photo taken by Mohawkmom). Just like good old days but this time with a higher rockstar status 😉 . Woot! Rock on!
Let me just give you some Eheads final set preparations that you can do:
- Starting now, try to recall the lyrics of their songs so that you can be part of the grand videoke party on the gig itself. You can probably do 1 album at a time, be creative. Don’t forget their rare songs, you might be surprised that they might perform it. It’s pathetic that you only know the common ones like Alapaap, Huling El Bimbo, Magasin and many more.
- Try to go to the gigs of their respective bands. They perform in small clubs like Saguijo, 70’s Bistro, Route 196. It’s also one way of moving on from the Eheads Era. Continue reading “Are you ready for this? Things to do before the Eraserheads Final Set Concert”

A news article just came out last January 10 regarding the Eraserheads Reunion Concert Final Set that is set to happen on March 7, 2009. I for one got excited and saddened at the same time because I will be at Cagayan de Oro on that date. Hopefully I can fix arrangement with the airline. Well, moving on, everybody was thrilled to know about that. The Eraserheads Mailing List or popularly known as “Circus” is being flooded by messages of excitement about it and I also believe that the Eheads members themselves are also being bombarded with questions. Raymund Marasigan posted an email to the Cambio Mailing List about his sentiments:
Subject: Eheads 09
Date: January 11, 2009 Sunday
i got a lot of messages yesterday asking about the eraserheads
concert. apparently there was a press release already in the papers.
anyhoo, here’s what i got so far.
yes its true. that much i know. but after the first one i got darwin
(soupstar, sandwich) to iron out my concerns before anything.i want
this one to be smoother. in other words i just want to rock.
the band has not me yet officially but i know the promoters have been
talking with our respective representatives since december.
we have a dysfunctional relationship haha. we play well together but i
think we can only stand each other for short periods of time.
i see buddy a lot cos were band mates in cambio. i bumped into marcus
at mogwai last week. he just got back from the beach. im glad ely’s
getting his groove back. sandwich played with pupil at guijo last friday.
we dont talk about the show. i know everyone agreed to do it so ill
guess well see each other at the presscon or rehearsals , whichever
this wont be as top secret as the marlboro gig. there will be tickets,
sponsors and details in the papers. and well be allowed to talk about
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL OR TEXT ME about it. its just a rock show. i just
want to rock.
see you all there
So there, it’s not actually confirmed yet that it will happen on the date mentioned on the article (with my fingers crossed…) but there are already talks that it will happen this year. All we have to do is just wait and see what will happen so as of this moment, I will still have to make arrangements with the airline to move the flight for the next day, in case it really will happen on March 7th 😉 .
The most awaited Eraserheads Reunion DVD will be officially released on January 31, 2009. Got this information from the Eraserheads Mailing List and of course from Sony BMG. The DVD will of course feature all the songs that were performed in the concert itself and some interesting stuff like behind the scenes and the rehearsal. This is a must have for Eraserheads fans out there.
It shall go down local music history as that singular moment where four estranged band members – Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro – came together for one spectacular reunion – 08.30.08. One band. One great show. One night only.
The historic performance of the country’s biggest band in the 90s that drew in more than 50,000 people at The Fort Bonifacio Open Field on Aug. 30, 2008, will be immortalized in one DVD – plus bonus features of behind-the-scene footages, rehearsals, etc.
“Eraserheads: Reunion Concert” boasts of outstanding production value. The state-of-the-art sounds, lights, and stage. The audience that night were so thrilled to find themselves drowned out by the outstanding display of lights and fireworks. It was truly a magnificent event, to say the least. All these, plus the thousands of adoring fans caught on camera, will be relived all over again in “Eraserheads: The Reunion Concert” DVD.
